love in lent

One of the nice things about this week was dropping the children off at a holiday club and heading off to walk the dog, just him and me.

It was one of those very rare "just like the old days" moments, when it we were just Oscar and Lucy for an hour or two (even though we talked a lot about the children!)

Sipping coffee, letting Coco say hello to other dogs, enjoying the cold beauty of the day, taking photos, setting the world to rights and laughing about how silly everyone else except us can be (because we are never silly, of course), holding hands without any small people trying to get in between us - all that was jolly nice.

There are times when I realise how blessed I am that almost twenty years ago, an age where I was making many mistakes on an hourly basis, I didn't manage to mess up and miss out on the amazing adventure that being married to my lovely man has been. This day was one.  We met in February, 21 years ago, and I am so glad we did.

  1. So nice to read about your "date!" February must be a good month, I was born in it and will be 45 tomorrow.

  2. How lovely! I'm glad you had the chance for some couple time. Your marriage inspires me. And did you make his hat?

    1. Yes I did knit his hat, Nancy. We've decided we badly need more couple time - we've had one night away in 8 years of parenting, and so desperately need a little escape! Lucy x

  3. I hope you manage to plan in time together. I know my husband and I always struggle to get the balance right.

    1. Thanks Julianne, I hope so too. I think time alone that isn't just slumped on the sofa eating ice cream and watching tv online is pretty much essential!!
